Educational Briefing 2024
Im diesjährigen Educational Briefing untersuchen wir das Konzept einer europäischen Erinnerungskultur und beleuchten die Rolle der Erinnerung bei der Gestaltung der kollektiven Identität.
Our 2022 Fellows have developed five workshops on social and climate justice. They are designed for peer-to-peer education and follow a low-threshold, inclusive and diversity-oriented approach.
The workshops will now become part of Understanding Europe‘s educational work but are equally aimed at external young trainers, teachers and multipliers throughout Europe. All workshops and materials are available freely in English.
“Peace in Europe: Digital and virtual reality peacebuilding”
This workshop by Lisa Glybchenko is an educational effort to empower participants to recognize their potential as peacebuilders in Europe and beyond. It reveals the process of peacebuilding by using virtual reality (VR) tools and encourages them to practice digital peacebuilding in everyday life.
“Breaking down disability: Removing barriers”
Leonor Amaral’s workshop is aimed at de-stigmatising ideas connected to disability and seeks to empower young people to advocate for Disability Justice. At the end of the workshop, pupils should be more comfortable and knowledgeable regarding the concept of disability.
“European Muslim women’s identity – Unveiling new narratives”
This workshop was developed by Samira Brahimi and focuses on the impact of diverse narratives on a specific minority in Europe: Muslim women. Participants will approach and understand the concept of narratives and will then deconstruct one-sided narratives into more diverse, active, and complex ones.
“Your job orientation in the time of climate change”
In this workshop by Thanh Nguyen Van young people discuss different professions and their respective climate impact in a dialogue-oriented format. The participants‘ own strengths and interests serve as a basis for identifying relevant job fields or even specific job positions.
“Europe’s responsibility to fight for climate justice”
Sefa Adzua’s workshop aims to introduce different, maybe unknown circumstances, that marginalized groups are confronted with due to climate change. Participants engage in discussions on climate justice and intersectionality.

The workshops have been developed as part of our fellowship programme “Thinking of Europe” which are implemented in cooperation with the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft.
