Apply now: European Summer School 2021

We are looking for motivated young people who would like to become part of our team as Peer Educators & participate in our 2021 European Summer School, September 23–26 in Duisburg.

Why to become a Peer Educator

Europe faces many challenges – think of growing inequalities, a political shift to the right, a climate- and environmental crisis, shrinking civic spaces and the spread of disinformation. Many young people, especially from marginalized groups, are and will be particularly affected by these challenges. Understanding Europe therefore aims to support young people in understanding (European) political processes and finding and sharing their voice by conducting educational workshops throughout Europe.

As a Peer Educator, you will implement the pedagogical work of Understanding Europe and become part of one of our 11 youth organizations from September 2021 until August 2022. You will train local volunteers who want to become Trainers and thus ensure that newly committed people can become part of the project.

European Summer School 2021

The European Summer School offers a 3-day training program which prepares participants for their role as Peer Educators. It consists of interactive workshops, methods & approaches of inclusive and diversity-oriented democratic citizenship education, an anti-racism training, and a keynote speech by Yael Ohana.

At the moment, we are confident that the event can take place in person, following a thorough hygiene plan. But it is of course also possible to participate digitally.

When, where and how? September 23 – 26 | Duisburg (Germany) & digital events | Apply until the 2nd of July 2021, 23:59 CEST.
