Workshop “A Path to Digital Citizenship”
This workshop by Kansu Ekin Tanca aims to raise awareness of our rights and responsibilities online by prioritising digital participation, valuing active and responsible digital citizens, and highlighting that children and young people should fully enjoy their rights online.

What is this workshop about?
The workshop aims to address the following questions:
- How often do we, as young people, reflect on our participation in the digital world?
- Which challenges are we able to tackle online and which risks need to be further discussed?
- What are the opportunities that make digital participation an empowering, inspiring, and inclusive experience for young people?
Content
First, the students make their own associations with the word “online” to learn afterwards about the history and implications of the WWW in order to discuss if a life without the internet is possible and what it means to be offline.
In the second part they dig deeper into the rights and responsibilities online and reflect on their experiences in the digital world.
Duration: 90 minutes
Format: digital & on site
Target group: young people, between the ages of 13 and 18

The workshop was developed as part of our Digital Europe Fellowship in cooperation with the Alfred Herrhausen Gesellschaft. All materials are accessible as an Open Educational Resource.
