Youth Organization

Understanding Europe Türkiye

Understanding Europe Türkiye was established in 2021 as a cooperation between Schwarzkopf Foundation Young Europe and EYP Türkiye (Avrupa Gençlik Parlamentosu Derneği, AGPD). It aims to help Turkish youngsters to realise what they are capable of achieving: becoming active, open-minded and tolerant citizens and creating a big impact on the common future of the European Union and Türkiye.

Accordingly, we offer various Turkish and English crash courses and training modules in the fields of EU institutions, democracy, rule of law and diversity specifically tailored to Turkish students living in 7 different regions and 81 diverse cities. Should you be interested in our courses – as a future trainer or participant – do not hesitate to contact us and join our network now!

"Understanding Europe to me has meant being part of this community full of committed, inspiring, and welcoming individuals. I am beyond grateful and excited for the opportunity to contribute to the growth of this project in Türkiye alongside our Peer Educators and Trainers. Together, we are doing our best to spread the inspiring work of Understanding Europe and to create a meaningful impact on young people's lives by fostering safe spaces for open-minded discussion, learning from each other, and increasing their awareness and curiosity about various topics."

"For me, Understanding Europe has always been a place that young people discover their own voices and realize their power to shape society. Coordinating this journey helps me to witness how peer-to-peer dialogues can dismantle our prejudices. Watching our team empower students to discuss our democracy is truly inspiring for me. I am genuinely proud of being part of this community that reminds us why our youth work matters."
